FORT ST. JOHN -- Fort St. John might be British Columbia’s best-kept secret. That according to the Canadian Real Estate company Zolo.

Fort St. John was named as the ‘most affordable small city in BC’ to live..

The rankings take into account average home prices, incomes, population growth and the unemployment rate.

The report released by Zolo said, “This small city boasts over 300 sunny days per year and one of the highest average household incomes in British Columbia. Whether you enjoy camping, hiking, art galleries or local breweries, you can find them all in Fort St. John.”

The average income in the Energetic City is $119,700 per year. According to the report the average home price is $418,535. That puts the 'Home Price to Income' ratio at 4.98%.

However, smaller Northern BC cities dropped in affordability, possibly due to a 9% increase in average home prices year-over-year and a 2.2% year-over-year increase in unemployment.

Fort St. John, Terrace, and Prince Rupert are the most affordable small cities with populations under 30,000.
