CHETWYND -- Northern Health has announced that a mobile mammography coach will be visiting Chetwynd next week.
Women aged 40 and above can book their free mammogram screenings from August 26th to 28th. The mobile van will be stationed outside the Chetwynd Hospital and Health Centre.
Appointments must be scheduled in advance by calling BC Cancer at 1-800-663-9203.
“Certain factors such as your age, family history, or a previous breast cancer diagnosis may increase your risk of developing breast cancer,” according to HealthLink BC.
Those coming for screenings are advised to arrive early and knock on the van door at their scheduled appointment time. While masks are encouraged, they are not mandatory.
According to Northern Health, approximately 1 in 8 women will develop breast cancer in their lifetime.
