FORT ST. JOHN -- The first New Year’s baby born in the Peace Region was born in Fort St. John.

Baby Tariq was born at 7:33 am on January 1st. The baby boy was born at Fort St. John Hospital to mom and dad Tamanda Allen and Curtis Barton of Fort St. John, weighing in at eight pounds, four ounces.

Tariq is also welcomed by older siblings Travis and Janique.

Dawson Creek had to wait a day for its first baby of 2024. Baby Elaina was born at Dawson Creek and District Hospital at 6:30 am on January 2nd.

Elaina is being welcome to her family  by mom and dad Allie and Terry of Tumbler Ridge, weighing in at seven pounds, six ounces.

Elaina is also welcomed by older siblings Desirae, Madisin, Gaige and Remmingtin.

As for the first baby born in British Colombia, that happened right at the stroke of midnight at the Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster.
