DAWSON CREEEK -- Police say they are treating a house fire on 8th Street in Dawson Creek as arson.

No one was at home at the time the fire started on Thursday evening. Chelsey Lamont says she was out with a friend when the Dawson Creek RCMP called her with the news.

When Chelsey returned home, she said there was nothing left. Chelsey and her husband have lived in the house since 1996.

Chelsey said, “I’m heartbroken. I raised my family there, my pictures of my babies are in there. They are all gone.”

To make matters worse, the family didn’t have house insurance. Chelsey said, “My husband is on disability, he got into an accident and hit his head and there has been issues with that.”

Chelsey said her family has lost everything. She says they have no clothes, nothing to eat and have no idea where they are going to stay the night.

She is hoping someone sees her story and starts a Go Fund Me campaign.

If you would like to get in contact with Chelsey, you can email the CJDC TV Newsroom at peacenews@bellmedia.ca.

The Dawson Creek Fire Department and RCMP have been at the scene all of Friday. Police say their arson investigation in on-going.
