FORT ST. JOHN -- The North Peace Fall Fair Society released a scathing letter criticizing the Peace River Regional District for claims made in their Feasibility Study (RFP).

The District issued the RFP to ask for proposals to examine the fall fair grounds for safety.

The Fall Fair Society said the PRRD falsely claimed ownership of the Fall Fair.

In their letter they said that, “the Fall Fair is an event that the Society has organized and delivered through no operational assistance from the PRRD. It is inflammatory that the PRRD claims ownership of an event which they have nothing to do with except own the property upon which it occurs.”

They demanded the District issue a retraction to their RFP.

The letter also said the PRRD are supposed to be, “financially responsible for the property”.

They allege a number of funding requests to improve the fair grounds were denied by the District.

The Society said the release of RFP was only a week before the Fall Fair event which impacted the perception of the fair.

The letter said, “The timing of the publication either shows incredible ignorance of the impact of the publication on the Fall Fair (which we can understand due to the lack of involvement of the PRRD in the event) or considerable bad faith.”

The PRRD will be responding to the letter this Thursday.
