DAWSON CREEK -- With falling temperatures, auto thefts are going up.

Dawson Creek RCMP reporting an alarming number of stolen vehicles over the past two weeks.

Three cars were reported stolen over the past 24 hours alone, one right off the owner’s driveway.

Police say they notice more vehicle thefts as the weather gets colder because people warm up their cars and often leave them unattended.

The Mounties also notice crime rates going up when certain repeat offenders are let back into the community.

RCMP is advising drivers to lock your vehicles and keep car keys on you at all times.
