A man is recovering from injuries suffered after a domestic dispute north of Prince George, and RCMP say the office that examines all police-involved cases of severe injury or death is looking into the case.

Officers were called to the community of Tsay Keh Dene yesterday following reports of a dispute between a man and a woman, but found the home empty except for a locked bedroom door.

A statement from RCMP says members forced a the door open to find a man with apparently self-inflicted wounds and rushed him to hospital.

The woman related to the call was found safe a short time later. The Independent Investigations Office (IIO) must now determine if police actions, or inaction, played a part in the wounds suffered by the man.
