HUDSON'S HOPE, BC -- Those in Hudson’s Hope looking for a place to beat the heat currently have one less option, as the pool is closed for repairs.

Mayor Dave Heiberg says the closure is related to the mechanical failure at the water treatment plant, which also caused the District to issue a boil water notice last week.

The District is currently bypassing the plant and using untreated water in its system. Because of this, concentrations of bacteria were clouding up the pool.

Since the pool’s closure, staff have been bringing in new water by truck in order to dilute the pool water to maintain the bacteria at an acceptable level.

Heiberg added that staff will be monitoring the levels, and is hopeful the pool will reopen soon. The District will let the public know as soon as it is safe to do so.
