HUDSON'S HOPE, BC -- The District of Hudson’s Hope is now giving out bottled water to residents.

This comes after the District issued a boil water notice Thursday morning.

One five-gallon bottle per household will be given out at a time. They can be picked up at the Community Hall, which is open from 2pm to 8pm.

The water is meant for drinking, cooking, and brushing teeth. The District says the bottle should last 2-4 days per family, but they will continue to provide water as needed until further notice. The District is also asking residents to return their empty bottle before requesting a new one.

The untreated water in homes can still be used for laundry and for showering. It can also be used for handwashing, though Northern Health recommends sanitizing your hands after washing them. They also recommend sanitizing your dishware after washing it with the untreated water.

For drinking, cooking, brushing teeth, washing fruits and vegetables or making infant formula, tap water should be boiled at a rolling boil for at least one minute before it is safe.
