FORT ST. JOHN -- A spring storm caused havoc on roads across the Peace Region today.
Many people choosing to turn around and stay home following a treacherous morning commute for many drivers.
DriveSafeBC reporting dozens of accidents along Highway 97, Highway 29, and Highway 52.
Along the Alaska Highway at Becker Hill Road, a truck jackknifed into the ditch leading traffic to be reduced to a single lane.
According to DriveSafeBC, a vehicle recovery on Highway 52 had the road closed between 204 Road and Fullerton Road until about 2:30 p.m. this afternoon.
A mix of snow and rain made for slippery road conditions and reduced visibility.
Drivers reported seeing a number of accidents, snow drifts, and slow moving vehicles throughout the morning but road conditions did improve throughout the day.
The City of Dawson Creek said they had their plows and salt trucks out on roads to clear main intersections.
Thick slush and melting snow continues to cause ponding on some roads.
DriveSafeBC is urging those travelling along highways to continue to watch for slick road conditions and monitor their website for updates on closures and changing road conditions.
There have been no reports of any serious injury or fatalities stemming from this morning's road conditions.
