The Hasler Flats wildfire has now grown to 120 hectares in size.

The fire is burning roughly 30km southwest of Chetwynd. Environment Canada issued a smoky sky advisory for the South Peace Region due to smoke from the fire, although that advisory has now been rescinded.

BC Wildfire Service needed to divert some resources away from that fire to fight new fire starts in the Prince George Fire Centre. Today, 33 firefighters were battling the blaze, including smokejumper crews. There were also three helicopters and twelve pieces of heavy equipment devoted to fighting the fire.

BC Wildfire Service says the blaze is still burning out of control. There has been increased activity on the east side of the fire, fuelled by wind and dry conditions.

Hasler Road remains closed between kilometer 9 and 26 as a precaution.

The wildfire service says there is still no danger to the public or to buildings at this time.
