CHETWYND -- The BC Wildfire Service has announced the wildfire burning near Chetwynd is now being held.

The Hasler Flats wildfire is now 180 hectares in size; it started on August 9th from an apparent lightning strike. It had been burning out of control.

The fire is burning approximately 30 kilometres south west of Chetwynd and is no longer considered to be a "Fire of Note" by the BC Wildfire Service.

Crews continue to fight the blaze. A unit crew and initial attack crew are on scene today. The BC Wildfire Service said that helicopters are making their way back to the area to help fight the fire.

Currently there are 31 wildfires burning across the Prince George Fire Centre. 28 of those fires are thought to have been caused by lightning.
