The BC Wildfire Service has announced the large wildfire near Chetwynd is now being held.

The Hasler Flats fire is now 125 hectares in size; however, the service says it has been contained and is not likely to spread any further.

The fire is no longer considered a Fire of Note.

Crews continue to fight the blaze. 33 firefighters are on scene today, as well as three helicopters and three pieces of heavy equipment.

Hasler Road was closed last week as a safety precaution. The road has now re-opened, but drivers are being asked to slow down for crews and equipment working nearby.

Another small wildfire was also reported on Friday just two kilometers southwest of the Hasler Flats fire. BC Wildfire Service has confirmed that fire is under control.
