CHETWYND -- A GoFundMe campaign has been set up to support the loved ones of James “Jim” Barnes and his dog, Murphy, who went missing near Chetwynd.
The funds raised will assist Barnes' partner, Michaela, a paramedic in Fort St. John.
“I am setting up this Go Fund Me for Micaela so she can focus on bringing Jimmy home safely,” said Kate Haywood, the campaign organizer.
According to the campaign, the money will also cover travel costs for friends and family to join the search efforts.
Barnes and Murphy have been missing since last Friday while out hunting. His keys, wallet, personal items, and rifle have since been found in his pickup truck on Ground Birch Forest Service Road, off 269 Road.
Barnes is described as a 28-year-old caucasian man, six feet tall, with brown hair and a moustache. He was last seen wearing a blue and green ‘TC Energy’ ball cap, a green or blue hoodie, and jeans.
The campaign has already raised over $8,000 of the $1,000 goal.
Anyone with information on Barnes’ whereabouts or who may have been in the area at the time of his disappearance are being asked to contact the Chetwynd RCMP.
“Please keep Micaela, Jimmy, and Murphy in your thoughts,” finished Haywood.
