FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. -- Cole Richards of Fort St. John posted on social media saying himself and his dog encountered a cougar around 11 P.M. on Thursday. Richards says they noticed the animal while walking near Northern Lights College in the Fish Creek Community Forest. In his post, Richards warned residents to keep watch of their kids and pets.

The City of Fort St. John says to be aware of wildlife in the area at all times as the forest is a natural area. They reccomend travelling in groups or making noise, staying away from feeding sites, not approaching any wildlife and knowing what to do if a predatory animal approaches you or attacks.
