FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. -- The Fort St. John Fire Department using the ‘Jaws of Life’ on Highway 97 Monday.

Fire crews receiving report of a two vehicle collision at 9:43 A.M.

Upon arriving on scene firefighters using the hydraulic tool to help remove one driver. Fire Chief Robert Norton saying paramedics also attended to that person.

One witness on scene saying the collision happening at 'highway speed' when a Northbound vehicle ran a red light. Adding it hit another vehicle waiting to make a left turn off 271 Road.

Norton saying the incident is now a police matter.

Traffic on Highway 97 was affected until the intersection was cleared around 11 A.M.
