FORT ST. JOHN -- Drivers in Fort St. John are beginning to feel pain at the pumps following an overnight jump in the price of fuel.

A litre of regular now hovers around 178.9 cents at most gas stations across the city.

The increase marks a six cent jump on a litre of regular fuel since March.

However, there are deals to be found. At the Centrex gas station on 100th Street, fuel prices were advertised 178.9 per litre, but displayed 176.9 at the pump.

British Columbia isn’t the exception of higher gas prices, in Ontario, gas prices jumped a whopping 14 cents overnight.

On a cost basis, the price at the pump usually peaks during the May long-weekend.

Drivers are being told not to expect any relief at the pump’s through the summer as a switch back to winter blend won’t happen until September.
