FORT ST JOHN -- The Salvation Army has kicked off its 2023 Christmas Kettle campaign – a holiday staple that helps to raise money for the vulnerable population.
Salvation Army is aiming to raise $150,000 in Fort St. John through this year’s Kettle Campaign, which has been around for 133 years. The funds from the initiative go towards helping individuals and families in need, which includes providing food, clothing, and toys.
Kettle stands are located at No Frills, Canadian Tire, Walmart, Winners, Safeway, Save On Foods, Shoppers Drug and the Totem Mall. These locations are greeted by a volunteer and have to option for residents to donate using the debit/credit tap option. The Salvation Army is currently also looking for more volunteers.
There are also drive-by kettle stands at McDonalds, Burger King, Popeye’s and Tim Hortons. There are also stands at Home Hardware, the Salvation Army Thrift Store and the Site C Work Camp.
Residents can apply to volunteer or donate on their website, at: https://www.safsj.org/
All donations stay in Fort St John to serve many of the greatest needs. The campaign runs until December 23.
