FORT ST. JOHN -- Healing Hearts is a support group in Fort St. John which offers help to those who’ve lost loved ones due to substance abuse.

The Moms Stop the Harm group started the Healing Hearts organization.

The program is now run by Fort St. John resident Heather Boswell.

She lost her son to a drug overdose in 2018.

Boswell said, “The stigmas are very bad and people are afraid and so they isolate themselves because they feel like don’t want to talk to other people and nobody understands.”

She said one of the important things is to help others avoid feeling isolated by their grief.

The group is also open to anyone needing support.

After a 3 month break, Healing Hearts Fort St. John will be back this Wednesday at the Treaty 8 Trial building in Fort St. John at 7pm.
