FORT ST. JOHN -- Fort St. John RCMP are looking identify the driver of red pickup truck who is alleged to have struck a woman riding a scooter near the intersection of 93rd Avenue and 100th Street.

RCMP say that on September 21, 2024, at 5:38 p.m., a frontline officer conducting proactive patrols was flagged down by members of the public who informed the Mountie of the hit-and-run incident.

The officer then attended to an adult female found on the sidewalk who claimed she had been struck by the pickup before it drove off eastbound on 93rd Avenue following the collision.

A video surveillance photo captured the truck turning right onto 93rd Avenue from the Safeway Liquor parking lot.

“The officer was in the right place at the right time to assist the public and get the victim medical attention,” said Constable Chad Neustaeter, Media Relations Officer for the Fort St John RCMP.

The victim was transported to the hospital by the BC Ambulance Service.

“We are asking the public for any information they might have and for the driver to turn themselves in and speak to police about what happened,” said Neustaeter.

An investigation into the incident remains ongoing, with police urging anyone with information that can identify the pickup truck to contact the Fort St John RCMP detachment at 250-787-8100 or by submitting an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers.
