FORT ST. JOHN -- The Fort St John RCMP is seeking to return abandoned surveying equipment to its rightful owner.

On September 3, 2024, at 10:32 AM, RCMP received a report of surveying equipment found near the intersection of West Bypass Road and 244 Road (West Bypass and Rose Prairie Road) in Fort St John.

Frontline officers responded to the scene and recovered two cases of ‘what appears to be’ commercial surveying equipment, along with an aluminum post. The equipment may have been abandoned or possibly stolen and stashed. No reports matching the description of the equipment had been made prior to or following the incident.

If you believe this surveying equipment belongs to you, you’re being asked to visit the Fort St John RCMP detachment.

RCMP say to be prepared to provide details such as the brand and color of the equipment, any identifying features, a receipt or serial numbers, or a photo of yourself using the equipment.

The Fort St John RCMP continues to investigate and urge anyone who can provide more information to contact them at 250-787-8100.
