FORT ST. JOHN -- Fort St. John RCMP has arrested a suspect in connection to a robbery last Friday.

Last Friday at 4:39 pm, the Fort St John RCMP received a report of a robbery in progress at Winks Convenience Store, located in the area of 86th Street and 93rd Avenue.

They say frontline police officers and the RCMP Police Dog Services unit attended and determined a single Caucasian male suspect had approached staff displaying a firearm and demanding cash. The suspect received a small amount of cash prior to departing the scene.

According to police, they were unable to locate the suspect but video surveillance was obtained prior to police clearing the scene.

On Sunday at 8:24 pm, the Fort St John RCMP received an unrelated report about a man matching the description of the robbery suspect. It was also determined that the man had multiple endorsed and unendorsed warrants.

They attended the man’s residence and arrested him on outstanding warrants. Attending frontline police officers determined the man matched the description of the robbery suspect. They say they arrested him for robbery.

Police say the man was transported to the detachment where he was taken into police custody until Monday and then again today where he will reappear in court.

Police are recommending the man be charged with Robbery with a Firearm, Disguise with Intent as well as multiple other firearm-related charges.
