Fort St. John RCMP arrest suspect for brandishing a firearm
FORT ST. JOHN, BC -- Fort St. John RCMP arrested a person Friday morning for brandishing a weapon.
Police received a report at approximately 11:45am of a person who produced a pistol when a citizen confronted them for littering.
Frontline and plainclothes officers responded quickly and located the suspect matching the description on 100th Avenue. Officers made a “high risk arrest,” and found the suspect had a black Airsoft pistol and several knives. A photo posted to social media appears to show that the arrest happened near the CIBC branch at 100th Avenue and 100th Street.
Police say the suspect is known to police, and is currently under conditions not to possess weapons or imitation weapons.
RCMP say several charges are anticipated.
