LIARD RIVER, BC -- A Fort St. John man is in hospital after an accident on the Alaska Highway.

It happened Monday, November 21st, near Liard River Hot Springs. Northern Rockies RCMP received a report of a single vehicle rollover. A pickup truck travelling north had gone off the road, rolled down a steep embankment, and hit a tree.

The driver, a 23-year-old man from Fort St. John, was ejected from the vehicle. The passenger was able to flag down help, and employees from White Bear Industries and the Liard River Lodge provided first aid for the driver for three hours while they waited for emergency services.

Eventually, the driver was airlifted from Watson Lake to hospital in Vancouver for treatment.

Police say they are still investigating the cause of the accident, but it does not appear that drugs or alcohol were involved.
