FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. -- The first National Day of Truth and Reconciliation takes place on September 30th.

Treaty 8 Tribal Association is organizing an ‘Honour The Survivors’ event in Fort St. John.

There will be a day planned at Centennial Park to honour the survivors and victims of residential schools.

The day will start at 11 a.m, with drumming and an opening prayer. This will be followed by a walk for Truth and Reconciliation.

Those attending can get a free BBQ lunch, which will be followed by speakers.

Speakers include; Connie Greyeyes (MC), Mayor Ackerman, Treaty 8, keynote speakers and an open mic for survivors.

The event will end with cave tours at Tse'K'wa.

They’re asking participants to wear a mask and social distance.
