FORT ST. JOHN -- The Fort St. John Fire Department rescued a dog after it was stuck on a ledge nearly 100 feet in the air.

The incident happened near the motocross track around 9am this morning.

The dog, named Tango, fell down an embankment and onto a ledge.

Fire crews arrived on scene and conducted a Technical High Angle Rope Rescue, rappelling down and retrieving Tango.

The Fire Department said although she wasn’t injured Tango appeared to be malnourished.

Tango was taken to the North Peace SCPA for medical care where her owners were located.

The Fort St. John Fire Department said pet owners need to take precautions and keep an eye on their animals.
