FORT ST. JOHN -- The City of Fort St. John is responding to pushback from residents over its handling of snow removal.
In a statement, the city acknowledged that snow removal was not handled correctly, citing several unnamed factors that contributed to the lack of timely clean-up.
“Snow removal wasn’t handled the way it should have been, and for that we sincerely apologize,” said the city in a Facebook post.
Given resident feedback, the city also announced they are now reassessing how they deploy equipment, manage, and respond to snow events.
A storm system brought nearly 15 centimetres of snow to city streets on Wednesday, prompting a snowfall warning from Environment Canada and a slew of road condition warnings from DriveBC.
The city also ensured residents the mistakes would not be repeated in the future.
“Our hardworking crews are doing their best, and we owe it to them, and to you, to set them up for success,” said the city.
