FORT NELSON, BC -- Northern Rockies RCMP say a man has been arrested in connection with an armed robbery incident.

On Thursday just before 11am, police were called to the A&W in Fort Nelson. Mounties say a lone man walked up to the drive thru window, pointed a shotgun at the employee, and demanded money. The suspect took an undisclosed sum and left on foot.

Police arrived and secured the scene. While looking for the suspect, they found the gun hidden in some brush. A short time later, they found the suspect and pursued him on foot. Mounties were able to arrest him with the help of a private citizen.

Police identified the suspect as 37-year-old Ian McMillan. He has been charged with armed robbery, pointing a firearm, possession of stolen property, and resisting a peace officer. McMillan remains in custody.

This incident is the second alleged robbery at the Fort Nelson A&W in less than a month. On August 17, police were called to A&W in response to a break and enter.
