FORT ST. JOHN -- Former Peace River North MLA Patt Pimm has died at his home in Prince George.
Pimm, born in Fort St. John, passed suddenly on September 18, 2024, with his wife Cathy by his side.
Born in Fort St. John, he dedicated nearly 12 years to serving as a city councillor before securing the BC Liberal nomination as MLA for the region in 2009.
He was re-elected in 2013 and appointed Minister of Agriculture, a role he stepped down from a year later due to health issues.
In 2016, Pimm left the Liberal Party and sat as an Independent following an assault charge that was bound by a eight-month peace bond before retiring from provincial politics in 2017.
“Pat will forever be remembered for his love of family, his devotion to his career, and those who knew him will continue to honour the legacy he leaves behind,” read Pimm’s obituary.
Dan Davies, speaking fondly of his predecessor during a campaign event on Monday, said, “Pat was a good friend of mine, a good mentor. He did a lot for this region in his role as MLA, Minister of Agriculture, and in the business community where he was very involved.”
Pimm is survived by his wife, four children, four grandchildren, and three brothers. A funeral service is scheduled for October 1st at the Catholic Church of the Resurrection in Fort St. John.
Patrick ‘Pat’ Joseph Pimm was 67 years old.
