FORT ST. JOHN -- The Fort St. John Hopsital Foundation is receiving a generous donation.
Michael Smith is donating over $5,000 to honour of his late wife Patricia Smith, who peacefully passed away in Februray after having cancer for five years.
The money will go towards the hospital's Cancer Diagnositc and Care Fund.
Michael and Patricia called the Peace Region home for 40 years where they raised their 3 children.
Although they recently retired on the island it was important to the couple that this gift support the care of cancer patients that rely on the foundations funding.
