FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. --  It wasn’t an actual plane crash but emergency crews were on scene at the North Peace Regional Airport on Wednesday.

Fire departments from Fort St. John, Taylor and Charlie Lake trained alongside fire fighters based at the airport. Search and Rescue and paramedics were also on hand for the exercise for emergecy prepardness.

The airport is required by Transport Canada to hold the training every four years.

Even some local performers got to take part and practice their skills. A local theatre troupe acted like plane crash victims on the tarmac.

Mike Karsseboom with the North Peace Regional Airport said “Hopefully they’re playing along and acting really well to make it realistic for the first responders.”

Karsseboom says incidents large enough to involve all agencies are seldom, so training provides an opportunity to practice working together.
