FORT ST. JOHN -- The Peace River Regional District has expanded Evacuation Orders for areas near the West Kiskatinaw River wildfire due to recommendations from B.C. Wildfire. The fire is currently 10 kilometers east of Tumbler Ridge.

The PRRD have also declared a State of Local Emergency for the Electroal Area D.

The evacuation order is for the area along Highway 52E between Cutbank Dam and km 195, following the Kiskatinaw River west to south of Bearhole Lake, Bearhole Lake Road to the District of Tumbler Ridge boundary, north following the Tumbler Ridge boundary to the east side of Highway 52N, north following Highway 52 N, on the east side of the Highway to the northern most intersection of the Moore road and west following Halfmoon Creek, Oetata Creek to the Kiskatinaw River to a point of intersection at the Cutbank Dam at Highway 52E.

Properties that were previously under Evacuation Order #1 remain under Evacuation Order #2, including the One Island Lake community.

This order does not apply to First Nations communities or municipalities as they issue their own Orders and Alerts.

Evacuation Alerts are in effect for Kelly Lake, 10 kilometers north of One Island Lake Bridge, east to the Alberta border including the 187 road, along the BC Alberta border heading south, from the Kistkatinaw Forestry Service Road west of Highway 52 to the Cutbank Creek dam west to the One Island Lake Bridge.

Winds coming in from the west, pushing the fire to the east.

However winds are expected to shift tonight and push the wildfire to the west, towards Tumbler Ridge.
