The Evacuation Alert issued for the Doig River First Nation and surrounding area has been cancelled.

The fire burning 45 kilometres northwest of Fort St. John is listed as being held by the BC Wildfire Service.

An Evacuation Order was issued back on May 13th forcing people from their homes. The order was downgraded to an Evacuation Alert 8 days later

The fire has burnt 650 hectares of land while coming within a kilometre from the Doig River First Nation.

No structures were damaged in the wildfire that is suspected to be human caused.

The Peace River Regional District has also ended the Local State of Emergency for Area B.
