Environment Canada has issued a Snowfall Warning for the South Peace Region of BC.
Starting on Thursday afternoon, 10 cm of snow is expected near Tumbler Ridge and Highway 52. Those living near Chetwynd and Highway 97 can expect up to 15 cm.
A series of upper disturbances have combined with cold arctic air. That is bringing snow to South Peace River Region from Thursday to Friday afternoon.
Rapidly accumulating snow will make travel difficult. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow.
Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. If visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance.
A snowfall warning is also in effect for the Pine Pass. About 10-15 cm of snow is expected from Wednesday until Friday afternoon.
Public Safety Canada encourages everyone to make an emergency plan and get an emergency kit with drinking water, food, medicine, a first-aid kit and a flashlight.
