FORT ST. JOHN -- Three days after a heat wave ended across the Peace Region, a  new Heat Warning has been issued by Environment Canada.

A ridge of high pressure is forecast to bring high temperatures to the region this week.

Temperatures are expected to be in the high 20’s or low 30’s until Friday. Overnight lows are only expected to dip into the mid teens.

Health officials are expectinh an increased risk to health and safety and are advising the public to take precautions.

Environment Canada says heat affects everyone, but the risks are greater for: seniors, people who live alone, people with pre-existing health conditions such as diabetes, heart disease or respiratory disease.

Check on family, friends and neighbours, who are at higher risk, particularly if they live alone, to make sure they have a cool space.
