FORT ST. JOHN -- Northern Health is advising residents that emergency department services at the Fort St. John Hospital are currently unavailable and will remain so until Thursday September 5th at 5:00 a.m.
According to the Health Authority, the hospital is currently facing challenges with physician coverage.
“People in Fort St. John and area who need life-threatening emergency care should call 9-1-1 for transport to the nearest available and appropriate facility,” said Northern Health in a statement.
The timing of the diversion is subject to change, with the Northern Health saying they are actively working to secure coverage for emergency department shifts.
This is the first emergency department diversion at Fort St. John Hospital in September, following a closure in Chetwynd earlier this week due to staffing shortages.
