FORT ST. JOHN -- Fort St. John police are calling a drive-by shooting on Friday a targeted event.

Mounties responded to a report of shots fired in the 8600 block of 74th Street. It happened just after 4:30 Friday morning.

Investigators have also obtained surveillance video and are requesting the public’s help to identify and locate the suspect vehicle.

Investigators are requesting that anyone who may have security camera footage of the area between the time of approximately 4:20am and 4:26am on March 24, 2023, review their footage and report any relevant information.

The suspect vehicle is described as a black or dark mid-2000 Volkswagen Jetta with what appears to be a dark front passenger side tire rim.

The vehicle departed the 8600 block of 74th Street by turning westbound onto 87th Avenue.

Fort St. John RCMP have confirmed to CJDC TV that the house and the residents are known to police. 

RCMP say a number of suspected bullet holes were found in the residence and a vehicle in front of it. Police say there were no injuries to anyone inside the home.

Constable Chad Neustaeter said, “Investigators will be giving this top priority in efforts to locate and arrest the offenders”, adding that the offenders show a “complete disregard for the safety and wellbeing of the residents and the entire community as a whole”.
