FORT ST. JOHN -- Dr. Kearney Middle School in Fort St. John will be seeing expansions.

The school will add eight classrooms, which will add 200 new seats. Dr. Kearney is one of twelve schools receiving funding from the province as part of its plan to expand schools quicker.

This is done through a $133.5-million investment. The Ministry of Education and Child Care will add 89 new classrooms, equivalent to 2,185 new seats across the province.

Over the past 7 years the B.C. Government has approved almost $6-billion in funding for new schools and improvements to existing ones.

Calls to School District 60 regarding the timeline of the expansion and the cost were not returned.
