VICTORIA -- Conservative leader John Rustad is refusing to allow political snarkiness to diminish the party's platform ahead of October’s election.

This as the BC United begin handing out tinfoil hats to address questionable claims made by Prince George-Mackenzie candidate Rachael Weber.

"I'm not going to be out there dealing with the political spin and the rest of the garbage that they're used to seeing from other parties and I think people find that refreshing," said Rustad in an interview with CJDC-TV.

The BC United taking responsibility for the headgear that come following social media posts by weber amplifying conspiracy theories.

The Facebook posts, dating back to 2020, caution that 5G wireless networks are 'genocidal weapons' and spread covid-19.

Six conservative nominees have already come under fire for extremist views and speaking out on debunked conspiracies, according to Mike Bernier, who is calling the latest revelations “downright weird”.

“Not only is John Rustad failing to shut down conspiracy theories in his party, he's failing to stand up for the very natural resources and pipelines that create jobs in our province,” said Bernier in BC United news release.

The BC United MLA for Peace River South adds that conspiracy theorists are the foundation of John Rustad's party.

“Rustad must explain why he continues to recruit and promote candidates that deny science and subscribe to weird theories from the darkest corners of the internet,” said Bernier.

He is asking voters consider the views of candidates before heading to the polls.

Weber remains tight-lipped on this latest political attack with 56 days until the election.
