FORT ST. JOHN -- Fort St. John police are thanking the public for their help in finding Tyson Cote.

Back on April 19th, Mounties put out a notice that they were looking for the 31 year old who was wanted on an outstanding warrant for assault.

On May 5th, police say Cote showed up to the detachment and surrendered to authorities. Coty has been found guilty in the past of assault.

Despite calls from municipal and provincial governments to detain repeat offenders accused of violent crimes, Coty was released from custody.

His next court appearance is scheduled for May 29th.
