DAWSON CREEK -- The Dawson Creek and District Hospital Foundation and Tim Horton's broke a new record for their "Smile Cookie" campaign.

The campaign took place between Sept. 13 to the 19, and it was the most successful to date, raising a total of $22,511.

Gillian Macdonald, owner of the Dawson Creek 8th St. Tim Horton's franchise, presented the cheque to Foundation representatives Brette Madden, and Alicia Michetti.

The Hospital Foundation set an original goal of $17,360, but thanks to the community's help, that number was quickly surpassed.

Michetti, Manager of Fundraising and Events for the Hospital Foundation, says she is beyond excited about being a part of the campaign.

"I think any time you are able to do something that's giving back, you're able to see literal smiles on people's faces, with the smile cookies and just the love and support from the community. That just goes so far; it's absolutely amazing."

Proceeds are going towards the purchase of a fluid and blanket warmer that will benefit the hospital, paramedics, ambulatory, ER, and ICU.

However, having broken the $20,000 mark, Michetti says they are now also looking to buy equipment for various departments of the hospital.
