BC Highway Patrol Dawson Creek recently stopped an impaired driver for excessive speed.

It happened Sunday on Highway 97 between Dawson Creek and Chetwynd. The driver was travelling 159km/h in a posted 100 km/h zone. The driver then failed a roadside breath test.

The driver was given $368 ticket and his car was impounded for 30 days. He was also given a 90-day driving prohibition.

Police reminding the public that 65 people a year are killed in accidents involving impaired drivers. They stressed the importance of finding another way to your destination if you are impaired.
