DAWSON CREEK -- Dawson Creek’s Step Up n Ride Society is hosting its annual Christmas market fundraising event.

The event kicks off tomorrow at 11 and runs until 5 p.m. at 732-115th Avenue. It’ll continue on Sunday at 11, ending at 3 p.m.

While the market has been running for the past five years, residents can expect something unique this year. According to staff, the event’s taking more of a European Christmas feel.

The market will include vintage décor from the 50’s, decorated Christmas trees, greenery, wreaths, ornaments and centrepieces, just to name a few. They are only accepting cash purchases, but have the option to accept donations through e-transfer. The society says special items will be marked at a set price but other items will be at general rates.

There will also be cookies from CO-OP and Tim Horton’s coffee, which people can donate to enjoy.

New this year, they’re offering mystery gift bags. There will be multiple choices costing between $5 and $25. People can choose to have it delivered to friends and even other charities in December.

The society says the money from the event will go towards providing accessible transportation. Each year, they have to fundraise over $100,000 to provide wheelchair-accessible transportation and transportation for those who are in need in Dawson Creek and surrounding areas.
