DAWSON CREEK, BC -- The City of Dawson Creek is reporting the second water main break in the past week.

The break occurred just across the road from the previous break, which was reported Sunday afternoon. Both breaks happened on the Alaska Highway, near the Bulk Water Station and the Dawson Creek Golf and Country Club.

Mayor Dale Bumstead says the breaks occurred due to the pressure from the road settling in that area. The City has stated that crews are responding, but it is not yet clear how long repairs will take.

Currently, there are no restrictions in place, as water reservoir levels remain high. However, the city is asking residents to limit unnecessary water use, like lawn watering or pressure washing.

Water in the city is still safe for consumption. Some residents may see reduced water pressure.
