DAWSON CREEK -- In a significant operation, Dawson Creek RCMP have successfully taken illegal firearms and drugs off the streets, and apprehended a known fugitive.
Tanner Murray, 30, was arrested last week and is now facing multiple charges including two counts of assaulting a police officer, obstruction, and two counts of failure to comply with a release order.
Following Murray’s arrest, a search warrant was executed at a related-residence near Alaska Avenue and 14th Street. The search led to the seizure of four firearms, over 1,000 rounds of ammunition, prohibited firearm magazines, and drugs, including suspected fentanyl and heroin.
“1.2 kg of suspected fentanyl and heroin, over 700 grams of cannabis, 500 ml of suspected GHB, over 50 grams of suspected methamphetamine, over 100 grams of suspect psilocybin mushrooms amongst many other quantities of drugs and other weapons,” highlighted the Detachment in a media release.
RCMP say they are currently pursuing additional charges related to the items seized during the search.
Murray has a history of legal issues, having previously faced charges of flight from police, possessing a dangerous weapon, robbery, and uttering threats. Despite the direction given by BC’s Attorney General on reverse onus, a judge released Murray on bail for these charges in January.
The latest arrest was made possible through a joint effort involving Dawson Creek RCMP, North District RCMP, and Police Dog Services.
