DAWSON CREEK -- The Dawson Creek Art Gallery has written a letter to the Peace River Regional District, requesting funding.

In the letter, the gallery says they need funding to continue their programs in 2022.

The gallery is asking for $20,000 to help support those programs.

There are a wide variety of programs the gallery hosts weekly, for children. With 41% of those children coming from rural areas.

Directors voted in favour of the motion. The gallery will see a total of $10,000 through fair share funding, $2,500 from Electoral Area E and $7,500 from Electoral Area D.

The Dawson Creek Art Gallery will receive the funds once they put in a grant application.

This is the first time since 2019, the Peace River Regional District has provided funding to the South Peace Arts Society.
