DAWSON CREEK -- A dangerous driver caused chaos on the streets of Dawson Creek on Friday night after he rammed a police cruiser and crashed into a jeep on Alaska Avenue.

At 9:30pm, Dawson Creek RCMP witnessed a white GMC truck nearly caused an accident at the traffic circle.

Police tried to pull the truck over but the driver fled and escaped.

Later that night, Mounties spotted the vehicle again at 8th street and 116th avenue.

The driver rammed the police cruiser and drove away.

The officer didn’t pursue the vehicle due to damage suffered to his car.

At 10:30pm, Mounties received a report of an accident on Alaska Avenue and 15th street where the white truck had crashed into a jeep.

Police said the driver and passenger of the jeep didn’t suffer serious injuries.

The 27 year-old driver from Grande Prairie was taken into police custody.

He’s facing a number of charges including operating while impaired, fleeing from police and dangerous driving.

More charges are expected to be laid.

The man was released from police custody with conditions.
