FORT ST. JOHN -- British Columbia has recorded 89 more cases of COVID-19 over the last 24 hours, causing the province's rolling weekly average to climb for the sixth day in a row.

B.C. has recorded an average of 63 cases per day over the past week, up from 42 cases per day as of last Friday.

There have now been 148,730 cases in the province since the pandemic began.

One new case was reported in the Northern Health region in the last 24 hours.

No more deaths were reported Thursday, leaving B.C. at 1,763 coronavirus-related deaths overall.

There are now 781 active cases of COVID-19 in the province, 31 of which are from the Northern Health region.

Of those active cases, 53 are in hospital, including 15 in intensive care units.
