Cops for Cancer wraps up 850km Tour de North, raises $150,000
Police officers from the Peace Region and across Northern BC have wrapped up their 850km bike ride benefitting cancer research.
The Cops for Cancer Tour de North finished in Williams Lake on September 20th. The riders started in Dawson Creek, riding to Fort St. John and then making stops in Chetwynd, Mackenzie, Prince George, and Quesnel, among others. The riders spent a total of seven days on the road.
The campaign raised just over $150,000. That money will go towards the Canadian Cancer Society, supporting pediatric cancer research and sending young cancer patients to Camp Goodtimes.
“I am extremely proud of our entire team. At times it was grueling but we also shared many uplifting moments,” says Cops for Cancer rider Peter Wharton. “Most importantly, we were motivated and inspired by the impact we knew we were making on children and their families.”
