Peace Region police officers are about to start an 800km bike ride to raise money for cancer research and support.

The Cops for Cancer Tour de North kicks off Wednesday in Dawson Creek. Fifteen riders will first cycle up to Fort St. John, where there will be a meet and greet in the Canadian Tire parking lot. There will also be a fundraiser BBQ benefitting pediatric cancer research and sending children battling cancer to Camp Goodtimes.

Over seven days, the tour will then head to Chetwynd, Powder King, Mackenzie, Prince George, and Quesnel, before finally ending at Williams Lake on September 20th.

So far, the campaign has raised over $107,000 of its $150,000 goal. Donations are still being accepted – you can donate online, or by sending an E-transfer to blueflames2021@yahoo.com. The Chetwynd detachment is also accepting cheques made out to the Canadian Cancer Society.
